Broadmeadows Cannon is
the most prolific Limousin bull in the history of the British
Limousin Cattle Society. His sire Broadmeadows VIP was
a 1 st prizewinner at the Royal Show and his dam was the
renowned Broadmeadows Ainsi. Cannon was initially sold
at the October 1988 sale for 8000gns to Mr Matt Ridley.
David Dick later purchased him privately in 1990. Innumerable
pedigree and commercial progeny and grand progeny have
won some of the very highest UK show honours and have sold
consistently well to feature prices at society sales.
Some
feature prices of progeny include:
- Ryedale Orion – Interbreed Junior Champion at
the 1999 Royal Highland Show, Royal Show, Royal Welsh
Show and Great Yorkshire Show. He was sold for 10,500gns
in April 2002.
- Rombalds Rebel – was sold for 10,500gns in March
2002.
- Eden Romeo – was sold for 10,500gns in May 2002.
- Sarkley Sebastien – was sold for 23,000gns in
May 2003.
Some top show winners include:
- Windsole Julia won
Champion Royal Highland Show in 1996.
- Millbrook Lancelot won the Royal Show Supreme Championship
and was part of the Burke Trophy winning pair along with
Ronick Janita in 1999. He also won the Royal Highland
show Individual Interbreed Championship and was part
of the winning team of four in 2000.
- Laverock Nimrod won the Royal Show Championship in
2000
- Ronick One wins the Royal Highland Show Marks and Spencer
Young Bull Championship.
- Aftershock wins the Scottish Winter Fair Supreme Championship.
A number of Cannon sons are standing at AI including Ronick
Hawk, Redpaths Jaguar, Hartside Jacko and Broadmeadows
Lydo. Other sons, not mentioned above, who are breeding
exceptionally well include Ronick Luke, Cloughhead Jurassic
and Ronick Matador.
